'Star Wars' descends on Empire State Building with epic celebration

New York City's Empire State Building has transformed into a "Star Wars" enthusiast's dream.

Launching on March 21 and lasting until April 29, this signals the start of the "March to May 4" campaign, celebrating the iconic "Star Wars" series.

Actor Hayden Christensen, renowned for his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, initiated the event with a lighting ceremony.

Christensen said about the franchise, "'Star Wars' has been a very important part of my life, so it's a real pleasure to be here and see this amazing show."

The building's south side facade dazzled with a dynamic light show featuring "Star Wars" villains. Synced to "The Imperial March (Darth Vader’s Theme)," the spectacle streamed on iHeartRadio’s Z100 New York and the iHeartRadio app.

The observatory decks feature LEGO-built, life-sized Darth Vader and other villains. On March 21 and 22, fans can taste the new TruMoo Star Wars Blue Milk.

"Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" will screen at the observatory on March 22. Ticket holders will enjoy complimentary drinks and snacks and access to the 86th and 102nd-floor observatories.

Disney Store revealed new "Star Wars" collections, including items celebrating "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace" 25th anniversary. These collections will be released before May 4.

In anticipation of Disneyland's Season of the Force, from April 5 to June 2, 2024, guests will experience new "Star Wars" offerings. The Salvaged Stormtrooper Helmet Bucket is a unique collectible that will be available at select Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort locations.

This event also shows the Empire State Building's cultural significance. After being revamped with a $165 million investment, its observatory was voted the #1 U.S. attraction in Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards for two consecutive years.
