Treacherous attack on Turkish martyrdom in Crimea

A monument to Turkish martyrdom in Sevastopol on the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula has been vandalized. Unknown attackers wrote offensive words on the sign leading to the memorial to Turkish soldiers, a Crimean Tatar journalist said on Tuesday.

Rahim Humbatov, a journalist from Crimea, posted pictures of the vandalism on Facebook noting, “Vandals again attack Turkish Memorial in Sevastopol."

The memorial complex was built in 2005 in honor of Turkish soldiers who lost their lives during the Crimean War between 1853 and 1856, in the Ottoman era.

Humabatov stated that it was the third attack on Turkish martyrdom in Crimea since Russian annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula in 2013.
The memorial was first attacked in 2014 and in again in May 2015.
