Turkey's installed power capacity became 68,230 megawatts in September 2014, according to the energy ministry.

Turkey's power plant investments surged by 233 megawatts in the first nine months of 2014, compared to the same period in 2013, according to the ministry's figures.

The installed capacity of power plants in 2013 was 4,383 megawatts but this increased to 4,617 megawatts with the plants which came online between January-September 2014.

In the first nine months of 2014, thermal plants had the biggest share of investments at 56 percent while 25 percent was given towards hydroelectric plants and 15 percent for wind plants. 

Electricity production in September saw a 5.3 percent annual increase from 20,420 to 21,508 gigawatt/hour.

Addionally, there was a 6.1 percent consumption increase this September from the same period last year  with 21,171 gigawatt/hour from 19,949 gigawatt/hour last year.
