Top stock exchange managers praise Turkey’s markets
Top officials of world’s leading stock exchanges highlighted Tuesday the enormous economic potential of Turkey and its financial capital Istanbul.

Xavier Rolet, chief executive officer of the London Stock Exchange Group, said “Turkey is one of the world’s most exciting emerging markets; it is blessed with a young, entrepreneurial population and an ongoing commitment towards building a financial system that supports the development of its high growth companies and industries.”

Addressing the “Istanbul: regional hub, global actor” forum in London, Rolet said they were analyzing the “good potential” of Turkey.

Separately, NASDAQ OMX Group Vice President Sandy Meyer Frucher also spoke about Turkey’s financial markets and its vast potential. “When you look at the world, you see too many few chances of this magnitude.”

Frucher said that Turkey and Borsa Istanbul were developing this potential in a way that many people did not realize. But, he added that the economic development in the last 12-13 years was not a result of magic.

“It was a result of consistent and compatible work,” he said.

Frucher also said that Borsa Istanbul’s success in consolidation of Turkish capital markets was the envy of the world.

Jacques Aigrain, Chairman of LCH Clearnet Group Ltd., said that with a near trillion dollar Gross Domestic Product and an export-oriented economy, Turkey presented an enormous potential to international investors.
