Turkey's new election system in debate
The ruling AK Party is still working on the new election system to determine if it will be based on a single member district or narrowed district, said AK Party Spokesman Huseyin Celik on Wednesday.

In the current system, Turkey has 85 election districts, and each district has a different number of MPs.

In the single member district system, Turkey will be divided into 550 districts, and each district will elect an MP. Whereas in the narrow district, Turkey will be divided into 145 districts, and each district will have a number of MPs according to its population.

Celik said that they are focusing on the government's stability for the new system. He also commented that the narrowed district system of 20 percent will change according to the vote rates of poltical parties in the new election system.
