Snow Queen Trophy: Shiffrin wins women's slalom
Mikaela Shiffrin won the women’s slalom race at the Snow Queen Trophy held Sunday on Medvednica mountaintop Sljeme near the Croatian capital of Zagreb.

The 19-year-old American, specializing in slalom and giant slalom, made the best result finishing the icy run in 56.88 seconds in the first round and 59.88 seconds in the second and won the title of the Snow Queen. 

Shiffrin was followed by Zettel Kathrin from Austria who made it in 57.68 seconds in the first round and 1:00.66 in the second, according to the final results announced at the Vic Snow Queen Trophy website.

Among the 68 female athletes who competed in the first round, 30 took part in the second round, 7 of which did not finish the run and 1 competitor was disqualified.

This is the second time for Shiffrin to win the Snow Queen Trophy, as she won it when she was 17.

Snow Queen Trophy is men’s and women’s slalom race held as part of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup that takes place on the Medvednica mountaintop Sljeme, north of Zagreb. The race starts at 985 meters and ends at 785 meters above the sea level.

On January 6 Sljeme will host men's slalom race.
