Fenerbahce win Turkish el clasico
Fenerbahce toppled their city archrivals Galatasaray 1-0 in the derby match in Turkish top division Spor Toto Super League matchday 23 on Sunday and narrowed the point gap to one against Lions who are still leading the league.

Home team Fenerbahce managed to snatch the triumph in the derby when their Dutch veteran forward Dirk Kuyt found the net on a counter attack in the 81st minute of the play. Kuyt's goal in the nick of time sealed the victory for Yellow Canaries at Fenerbahce Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.

The narrow win made Fenerbahce maintain the tradition of winning against Galatasaray in their home ground, Sukru Saracoglu Stadium since 1999. In this way visitors Galatasaray could not end their 16-year ill fate in away matches in Kadikoy.

After the win, Fenerbahce raised their points to 50 meanwhile Galatasaray have 51 points in standings. Lions are leading the league by goal average. Meanwhile Besiktas, also title contenders, are in second place; Black Eagles have 51 points.
