Supreme Military Council meeting ends

Supreme Military Council (YAS) convened in a meeting chaired by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as the three day committee held biannually drew to a close on Saturday. The meeting was attended by the Chief of Staff Necdet Ozel, Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz and high-ranking commanders. The committee decisions are expected to be announced publicly after they are submitted to Turkish President Abdullah Gul for approval, a new procedure put in place last week. The Council gathers to discuss the military's recent agenda and changes in staff positions.
