Turkey unveils first locally made attack helicopter
Turkey's first locally manufactured assault helicopter will be unveiled at a ceremony due to be held on Tuesday at the Turkish Army Air Defence Command in the capital Ankara. The 'ATAK' aircraft was made by local engineers at Turkish Aerospace Institutions, Inc following a contract signed in 2007.

Designed in two types with close air support and multi-task mission features, ATAK can undertake high-altitude missions with heavy artillery. Equipped with at least 76 rockets for close air support and advanced electronic war materials, ATAK will use locally manufactured ‘Mizrak’ anti-tank missiles.

Manufactured at Turkish Aerospace Institutions, the first ATAK prototype made its maiden flight on August 17, 2011.
