Turkey earned 486 million Turkish lira ($224 million) from tolls over the two Bosphorus bridges and toll roads in the first seven months in 2014.

Turkey earned 486 million Turkish lira ($224.5 million) from the two bridges over the bosphorus in Istanbul and toll roads in the first seven months in 2014, according to the data released on Tuesday by the Turkish General Directorate of Highways (KGM).

The Bosporus Bridge and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, which connects Europe and Asia, together yielded 134 million TL ($62 million), while the toll highways in Turkey earnt 352 million TL ($162.6 million].

The figures also indicate that 140.5 million vehicles paid tolls to use the bridges in 2013. More than half of these crossed the bridges. Drivers in Turkey need to pay 4.25 Turkish lira ($2) for bridge toll fee. Vehicles with more than two axles will pay a higher pro-rated toll rate in the country. 

Meanwhile, over 2013, 359.8 million vehicles used the bridges and toll roads in Turkey, paying a total of 789.7 million Turkish lira ($361 mıllion).
