A startling archaeological find emerged from a private garden in the Defne district of Hatay during a routine electrical infrastructure upgrade.

A sarcophagus adorned with mythological figures was uncovered, prompting immediate action from local authorities and cultural officials.

The discovery was made at Fevzi M.'s residence while energy company crews were renewing the electrical cable installations.

"During the excavation works by the crews, a structure emerged," the reports stated, indicating an unexpected turn in a mundane task.

The homeowner promptly reported the find to the local gendarmerie, triggering a coordinated effort by the Hatay Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism.

Their intervention ensured that the sarcophagus was carefully extracted from its original location.

The intricate artifact, featuring mythological motifs, was then transported to the Hatay Museum Directorate for further examination and preservation.
