Aselsan displays Marlin USV's ASW setup in Malaysia exhibition

For the first time, Türkiye's Aselsan recently displayed its Marlin unmanned surface vessel (USV) in its complete anti-submarine warfare (ASW) setup at the Defense Services Asia (DSA) 2024 exhibition, which is being held in Kuala Lumpur from May 6 to 9.

The USV combines the Mini-Dufas low-frequency active towed array and passive towed sonar system. By 2024, Aselsan plans to install a smaller version of its Dufas-towed active sonar, Dufas-M, on USVs.

Hardware component testing is currently in progress, and sea trials for a Marlin USV are scheduled for the latter half of 2024. Dufas is equipped with both active and passive arrays, along with detection and tracking capabilities.

Suat Ekmen, the Asia-Pacific manager of Aselsan, stated on May 7 that the specifications, such as the array's operating frequencies and the towed cable's length, are being kept confidential due to the system being in the final stage of development.
