43rd Istanbul Film Festival unveils award winners

The 43rd Istanbul Film Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), culminated in an award ceremony held at Atlas 1948 in Istanbul. Festival Director Kerem Ayan presided over the event, where the winners received their accolades.

The 43rd Istanbul Film Festival celebrated the best of international and national cinema, awarding top honors in both categories.

A major highlight was the Fipresci Prize in the International Competition, presented to "Forever-Forever," directed by Anna Buryachkova. Though unable to be physically present, Buryachkova joined the ceremony virtually to receive the award.

Ena Sendijarevic dedicates her award to Palestine

The Special Jury Prize went to “Sweet Dreams” by Ena Sendijarevic.

Sendijarevic, who sent a video message to the ceremony, said: “I dedicate my award to all those who resist for a free Palestine. I hope a cease-fire will be reached there as soon as possible.”

“Forever-Forever” directed by Buryachkova won the Golden Tulip Award for the best film in the competition.

Young Masters Award goes to Luna Carmoon

In the National Competition, the Fipresci Award in the Short Film category went to “Children of the White Mountain,” directed by Yalcin Ciftci. The Honorable Mention Award went to “Between Grace and Violence,” directed by Sirin Bahar Demirel and  the Best Short Film Award went to “Minus One,” directed by Omer Ferhat Ozmen.

The Young Masters Competition Award went to “Stack” directed by Luna Carmoon.

The Honorable Mention Award in the National Documentary Competition went to “Tomato Pepper Depression,” directed by Aybuke Avci, while the Best Documentary Award went to “Narrow Passage,” directed by Berke Bas.

The Fipresci Award in the Feature Film category went to “The Line of Hesitation” by Selman Nacar.

Seyfi Teoman's Best First Film Award went to “The Great Siege,” directed by Sinan Kesova, and the Honorable Mention Award went to “Beginnings,” directed by Ozan Yoleri.

Dogan Duru's original score for "The Last Harvest" earned him the Best Original Music Award. Naim Kanat's skillful editing in "Not As You Know" was recognized with the Best Editing Award. Nadide Argun van Uden's work on the art direction for "Together" stood out, bringing her the Best Art Direction Award.

"Homeland" earned Florent Herry the Best Cinematography Award. Vuslat Saracoglu's "Not As You Know" garnered her the Best Screenplay Award. Alican Yucesoy and Serdar Orcin shared the Best Actor Award for their performances in the same film, "Not As You Know."

The Best Woman Award was presented to Tulin Ozen for “The Line of Hesitation” by Japanese director Koji Yakusho, while the Best Director Award was presented to Selman Nacar for “The Line of Hesitation.”

Golden Tulip Award was given to the film “Homeland”

Vuslat Saracoglu received the Special Jury Award for her film “Not As You Know” from actress Merve Dizdar.

The Golden Tulip Award of the National Competition was given to the film “Homeland” by Nehir Tuna.
