'MIKTA Film Festival' kicks off at Turkish House in New York

"MIKTA Film Festival," organized by MIKTA member countries including Mexico, Indonesia, Korea, Türkiye and Australia, began at the Turkish House in New York.

Diplomatic representatives from MIKTA member countries, citizens and many moviegoers attended the film festival's opening ceremony.

Reyhan Ozgur, Consul General of Türkiye in New York, delivered the opening speech of the event hosted by the Turkevi, noting that the Turkish House has become a symbol of unity and that the purpose of this event is to ensure "unity in diversity."

Stating that New York is a center of culture and diversity and essentially a melting pot, Ozgur said that the "MIKTA Film Festival" reflects this city's ability to harmonize between different cultures.

Pointing out that MIKTA countries have various cultural riches, Ozgur said that the film festival aims to build bridges between different geographies, economies and cultures among the member countries.

MIKTA good example of diplomatic activities in 21st century

Recalling that MIKTA is a diplomatic initiative established to find standard solutions to improve global governance, Consul General Ozgur said: "Looking back, we see that our consultation and cooperation have produced an increasingly meaningful and convincing model. Our work does not go unnoticed. MIKTA has become a good example of diplomatic activities in the 21st century."

Within the "MIKTA Film Festival" framework, a film from the member countries will be screened at the Turkish House every Tuesday.

On May 8, the Turkish House will screen "Labuan Hati" from Indonesia, "Macario" from Mexico, "Minari" from Korea, "Sweet As" from Australia and "Once Upon a Time in Anatolia" from Türkiye.
