Coronavirus killed 300th victim in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia has reported a new death from the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), commonly known as coronavirus, on Sunday bringing the total number of MERS-related fatalities to 300 since 2012, according to a written statement from the Ministry of Health. 

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that can cause diseases ranging from the common cold to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) according to the World Health Organization. It comes under the umbrella of Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS). This strain of coronavirus that causes MERS was first identified in 2012 in Saudi Arabia.

The virus appears to be circulating widely throughout the Arabian Peninsula.
