Al-Aqsa Mosque's imam lauds President Erdogan's stance on Palestine

The esteemed Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque and former Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine, Sheikh Ikrime Sabri, praised President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his 5th Inter-Parliamentary Jerusalem Platform Conference speech for the Turkish leader's stance on Palestine.

Sabri praised Erdogan for his speech at the 5th Conference of the Inter-Parliamentary Jerusalem Platform and called for cooperation with Türkiye.

In a written statement, Sheikh Ikrime Sabri, who also serves as the President of the Supreme Islamic Council of Jerusalem, expressed his deep appreciation for President Erdogan's unwavering support and positive stance toward the Palestinian cause.

Sabri praised Erdogan's commitment to justice and underlined the sincerity of his efforts to defend the rights of the Palestinian people.

'Islamic countries should cooperate with Türkiye'

"We appreciate the positive stance of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is on the right path. It comes from a heart that believes in the rightness of the Palestinian cause," said Sheikh Ikrime Sabri.

Sheikh Ikrime Sabri emphasized Türkiye's diplomatic and media efforts in supporting the Palestinian cause. He underlined the necessity of taking further steps to protect the rights of the Palestinian people.

Calling for action, Sheikh Sabri urged Arab and Islamic countries to cooperate with Türkiye to end the attacks on Palestinians.

Sabri emphasized the need to build Islamic unity against Israel's genocidal campaign, noting the tremendous support Israel receives from the U.S. and Western powers.

Death toll rising

The devastation inflicted on Palestinian lives by Israel's relentless attacks on Gaza over the past six months has reached staggering levels. According to reports, over 76,000 Palestinians have been injured and more than 34,000 have tragically lost their lives.

The fact that nearly 14,000 children were among the dead underscores the devastating impact of the violence on Gaza's most vulnerable population.

The gravity of the situation has led to "genocide" accusations against Israel by the U.N. Security Council, reflecting the severity of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Recent developments have brought further horrors to light with the discovery of 392 bodies in mass graves in areas previously occupied by the Israeli army.

Despite all these developments, Israel's attacks, which began on Oct. 7, continue and Israel is preparing for a ground operation against Rafah, a city of 1.4 million civilians.
