Ahmet Davutoglu talks Egypt mosque siege with Swedish counterpart

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has had a phone call with his Swedish counterpart Carl Bildt on the recent developments regarding a mosque siege in Egypt. Diplomatic sources say both ministers expressed concern at security forces' violent crackdown on pro-Morsi protesters on Wednesday and Friday, and condemned the rising use of violence. Davutoglu and Bildt stressed the importance of ensuring a safe exit for the protesters trapped in al-Fath Mosque in Cairo's Ramses Square, an area that witnessed clashes on Friday which left almost two hundred people dead. Known to have a similar position on the military coup in Egypt, the ministers put emphasis on ending interventions against civilian protests and taking the necessary steps for reconciliation. Davutoglu and Bildt also called on the international community to take a joint and clear stance on the situation in the Middle East nation, and agreed to maintain diplomatic efforts and work in close cooperation.
