Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird on Monday blamed the Syrian regime over attacking civilians with chemical gas and said the regime would be held accountable by the international community. After the UN report on the 21 August attack on a Damascus suburb became available, Baird said that the report "provides additional evidence supporting the conclusion that inhumane and indiscriminate chemical weapons were used by the Assad regime."  He stated the regime must face international community and noted it would now be held to account by the international society over its compliance with the agreement between the US and Russia regarding the Syrian chemical stockpile.
