Bagis hopes significant progress during Greece's EU term presidency

Turkey’s EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis on Saturday said, “Greece has always expressed that having a neighbor in EU standards is beneficial for its own interests” on Greece’s EU term presidency that is going to commence on January 1, 2014. Bagis, speaking at Istanbul's Ataturk airport before his departure for Germany, said that Greece is a friendly ally and he hopes significant progress will occur during the term presidency of this country. Referring to the readmission agreement and visa liberalization talks that will widely occupy Ankara politics on Monday 16th December, Bagis said the progress will be the harbingers of a new process. Bagis also told the newsmen following him that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will go to Brussels on January 21 to come together with EU officials and President Abdullah Gul will visit Rome after hosting French president Francois Hollande in Ankara on January 26, 2014. Following the press conference Bagis left for Germany for an official visit.
