Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his delegation arrived Monday in Bogota, Colombia, the first stop of his Latin American tour.

The plane carrying the Turkish delegation arrived Monday in Bogota’s El Dorada International Airport at 01:50 a.m. local time (0650GMT).

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is accompanied by his wife and daughter, Emine and Sumeyye Erdogan, as well as Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Food, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Mehdi Eker, Culture and Tourism Minister Omer Celik and Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci.

Colombia is Erdogan's first stop of his Latin American tour, which will continue with visits to Cuba and Mexico.

This is the second visit of a Turkish high level delegation to Latin American countries, with the first held in 1995.

Erdogan said Sunday before deporting from Istanbul that this will be the first visit of a Turkish President to Colombia, Cuba and Mexico.
