Three Turkish soldier was martyred and one other soldiers were wounded during an operation against the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) in Turkey's southeastern Diyarbakir province, the provincial governor’s office said on Tuesday.

The Turkish General Staff also confirmed the toll.

According to the General Staff, the incident took place when the provincial and district gendarmerie command launched Monday evening an operation after suspected PKK members had set up roadblocks on the highway between Diyarbakir and Bingol.

The wounded soldiers were taken to Dicle University Medical Faculty Hospital, where one of them succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.

The governor’s office added that some PKK members had also been injured in the clashes.

An operation to nab the suspects was currently underway in the region.

On Monday, Diyarbakir Governor had imposed a curfew from 9 p.m. (GMT0600) to 7 a.m. (GMT0400) early Tuesday.
