Explosives reportedly planted by PKK terrorists on a road in the southeastern Hakkari province on Sunday have killed and wounded several soldiers.

The incident took place in the town of Daglica in Yuksekova district Sunday evening, as two armed vehicles belonging to Turkish soldiers were crossing. Security sources said there were several wounded and martyred soldiers.

However, there has been no official statement on the number of martyred soldiers yet.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking to a private Turkish TV channel, ATV,  said that the explosives used were mines. He stated that the fight against terror after this attack would continue with "much more determination".

An operation backed by helicopters was launched after the attack, in which 10 PKK targets were bombed by F-16 and F-14 aircrafts in southeastern Turkey, security sources said.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is currently holding a security meeting in Ankara.

Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar, Interior Minister Selami Altinok and National Intelligence Organization (MİT) Undersecretary Hakan Fidan are attending the meeting.
