Playing for his country in Brazil in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the 27-year-old defender scored 12 goals in 143 matches for the London team.

During his Chelsea era, he also witnessed both a UEFA Champions League and a UEFA Europa League title, and also an FA Cup trophy.
