Colombia cruised past Uruguay 2-0 in 2014 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 match played at Estadio do Maracana, Rio De Janeiro, on Saturday and qualified for the quarter-final stage.

Nicknamed as Los Cafeteros (The Coffeers), Colombia took the lead in the 28th minute when their star player James Rodriguez fired outside the box after receiving the ball on his chest. The ball firstly hit the crossbar and then went in, 1-0. Rodriguez scored his fourth goal in the tournament.

In the 50th minute of the game, Colombia doubled the score with Rodriguez finding the net easily in Uruguay's box after getting assisted by his Juan Cuadrado heading the ball towards the center, 2-0.

After securing a two-goal lead, Colombia dropped much deeper. Despite Uruguay's attempts to narrow the gap, the showdown ended as a 2-0 Colombian victory.

Uruguay missed the services of their regular forward Luis Suarez who had been suspended for 9 matches by FIFA after biting Italian center back Giorgio Chiellini in the final group stage game.

22-year-old Colombian star James Rodriguez -- playing for French club Monaco -- has been elected man of the match.

Colombia will take on host nation Brazil in their quarter-final match in Fortaleza on July 4.
