New Zealand defeated Finland 67-65 in 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup Group C game played in the Spanish city of Bilbao on Thursday.

An 18-point and 8-rebound effort from Isaac Fotu helped the 'Tall Blacks' win the pivotal clash which saw a highly contested showdown in the last quarter. Guard Kirk Penney scored 11 points and made 3 assists, while forward Mika Vukona contributed to the win by grabbing 12 rebounds, in addition to adding 5 points.

In Finland, center Gerald Lee was the top scorer for his team, scoring 17 points. Guard Petteri Koponen had 13 points and small forward Shawn Huff finished with 10 points.

Getting their second win in the group, New Zealand held a great advantage for advancing to the Round of 16, while Finland was eliminated.

New Zealand's final position in the group will be determined after the other games of Thursday evening.

Ukraine also eliminated from World Cup after defeated by United States.
