Turkish wrestlers score gold in European Championships

Turkish wrestlers have clinched two gold medals at the 2016 Wrestling European Championships held in the Latvian capital of Riga.

Turkey's Yasemin Adar won a gold medal in the women's 75-kilogram freestyle category by beating Russia’s Alena Starodubtseva 7-0.

Another Turkish wrestler, Soner Demirtas, also scored a gold Thursday in the men's 74-kilogram freestyle category.

Demirtas beat Azerbaijani rival Jabrayil Hasanov 2-1 at the Arena Riga.

The championships run through Sunday.
