Germany booked their place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 by beating Slovakia 3-0 at the Stade Pierre Mauroy in Lille Metropole in France Sunday.

Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng scored for Germany in the eighth minute of the round 16 match. Boateng fired from outside the Slovakia goal area, 1-0.

Germany was close to double the gap in the 14th minute, however, Arsenal player Mesut Ozil missed the penalty.

Near the end of the first half, Germany doubled the score when Mario Gomez found the net by a close range finish, 2-0. Midfielder Julian Draxler made an assist from the byline.

Dictating the tempo of the game, Germans made it three goals in the 63rd minute when Draxler sent the ball to the top corner by a close-range volley.

Germany have now advanced to last eight in the tournament; meanwhile, Slovakia got eliminated.

Germany will now play against Italy or Spain in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
