The trustees are the same authorities who were earlier appointed for Zaman newspaper when it was taken over on Friday, the court added.

Cihan News Agency and Zaman newspaper belong to the same Feza Gazatecilik Media group, which also includes the English newspaper, Today’s Zaman, Aksiyon magazine and Zaman Kitap.

The company is accused of supporting the Gulenist Terror Organization, which is said to have infiltrated Turkey’s state apparatus with thousands of Gulen followers in an effort to overthrow the government.

Known also by the initials FETO/PDY, the parallel state designates a clandestine group of Turkish bureaucrats and senior officials, allegedly embedded in the country’s institutions, including the judiciary and the poliçe.
