"Two former U.S. ambassadors, who suppose themselves to be 'colonial masters’, wrote: 'Erdogan should resign'. The days when you gave instructions to Turkey are over, gentlemen," Kalin said on his official Twitter account following publication of the column, "Turkey’s Erdogan must reform or resign," in The Washington Post.

"If Erdogan still wants to deliver a brighter future for his country, he has to reform or resign," said former ambassadors Morton Abramowitz and Eric Edelman in the guest op-ed.
