No casualties after PKK attack on Diyarbakir airport

No one was hurt after PKK terrorists early Sunday launched a rocket-propelled grenade attack on an airport in Turkey's southeastern Diyarbakir province, the governor’s office said in a statement.

It said the attack in Baglar district caused minor damage at the airport complex.

Flights continued after a momentary pause during the police investigation at the scene, the statement said.

It added the target was a police checkpoint at the airport.

A larger investigation is underway to catch the perpetrators.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year, since when more than 600 security personnel have been martyred and around 7,000 PKK terrorists killed.
