Istanbul court remands five over nightclub attack

Istanbul prosecutors are investigating the deadly gun attack on the Istanbul nightclub which took place in the early hours of New Year's Day.

At least 39 people were killed and 69 injured when partygoers were fired upon.

The five suspects -- Ali Jameel Mohammed; Aysha Mohammed; Dina Alaa Eid Sayed Ahmed; Eyyup Korkusuz and Tene Traore -- face charges of being members of an armed terror organization and of attempting to overthrow the constitutional order of Turkey.

Traore is the spouse of Abdulgadir Masharipov -- the main suspect in the Reina killings.

Masharipov, a member of the Daesh terrorist group, was captured in mid-January during a police operation in Istanbul's Esenyurt district.

He was also remanded in custody on Feb. 11 on the same charges.

A total of 40 suspects have so far been remanded.
