Turkish, Russian ministers discuss regional security

Turkish defense minister and his Russian counterpart have discussed regional security over the phone, according to a Turkish ministerial source on Thursday.

Turkey’s Hulusi Akar and Russia's Sergey Shoygu also discussed latest developments in Syria, the source told Anadolu Agency on condition on anonymity due to the restrictions on speaking to the media.

The ministers also exchanged views on bilateral cooperation, the source added.

Later, speaking to reporters following his visit to the State Cemetery on occasion of Victory Day, Akar described the phone call as “constructive”.

“We had constructive and positive exchange of views. We shared our views on various subjects, including Idlib,” Akar said.
