Cause of explosion in eastern province of Shandong still unknown

China: 22 workers trapped in coal mine explosion

At least 22 workers have been trapped due to an explosion in a coal mine late Saturday in the eastern province of Shandong.

Chinese news agency Xinhua citing local sources reported a blast occurred at the mine in Yuncheng county at around 11 p.m. local time (1500GMT).

Rescue work is underway at the site, while the cause of the explosion is still unknown.
