Netanyahu greenlights new Gaza cease-fire talks in Doha, Cairo

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has green-lighted new Gaza cease-fire negotiations, set to be held in Doha and Cairo, as tensions between Israel and Hamas escalate.

His office announced this development on Friday, signaling a potential breakthrough after a period of stalled talks.

Following the U.N. Security Council's demand on Monday for an "immediate cease-fire," Israel and Hamas have blamed each other for failing to reach an agreement.

Despite this, Qatar, serving as a mediator, confirmed on Tuesday that discussions regarding a Gaza truce and the release of hostages are ongoing.

Netanyahu's office disclosed that the Prime Minister had conversations with the heads of the Israeli intelligence agencies, Shin Bet and Mossad.

Specifically, he spoke with Mossad chief David Barnea about the forthcoming talks.

However, he did not elaborate on whether Barnea would be part of the delegations traveling to Doha and Cairo.
