At least two policemen are killed and 16 wounded in a car bomb attack on a police convoy in Kirkuk, Iraq. At least two policemen were killed in the blast, which left sixteen people injured, including civilians. Witnesses said the blast took place when police vehicles passed by a bus station in the centre of the ethnically mixed city. Sunni Islamist militants have been regaining momentum in their insurgency against the Shi'ite-led government in recent months, striking on an almost daily basis. More than 720 people have been killed in militant attacks in Iraq so far in July, according to violence monitoring group Iraq Body Count.
