At least 48 people, including three children and one woman, were killed in attacks staged by the Syrian regime in several cities on Saturday, activists say.

Assad forces killed 23 in Hama, 8 in Idlib, 6 in the suburbs of Damascus, 5 in Homs, 3 in Aleppo, one in each Daraa, Deir-uz Zor and Quneitra, the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) says. Meanwhile SANA, Syrian national news agency, said that regime forces made major gains against opposition fighters in operations across the country. More than 100,000 people have been killed in the more than three year old conflict, according to the UN, while over two million people have fled the country to seek refuge in other countries, mostly neighboring Jordan, Turkey, Lebanon and Iraq.
