EU foreign ministers meeting in Athens

Foreign ministers from the 28 European Union member states have gathered in Athens to discuss regional developments.

EU foreign ministers have gathered in Athens Friday for a two-day informal meeting to discuss regional developments; mainly the Syria and Ukraine crisis. Turkey's EU Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will meet Greek Parliament Speaker Evangelos Meimarakis, Dora Bakoyannis, the head of the Greek delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and Portugal's EU Minister Bruno Macaes on the sidelines of the EU foreign ministers informal meeting. EU's chief foreign policy official, Catherine Ashton, is also in Athens to participate in the meeting. 

Greece currently assumes the rotating six-month EU presidency.
