"[Security forces] were not involved in torturing prisoners," Ben Jeddou told reporters during a meeting with foreign ambassadors on Tuesday.

A prisoner breathed his last at hospital in the capital last month.

Another prisoner died in western Tunis last week.

Ben Jeddou said that last week's death was caused by drugs taken by the prisoner.

The Interior Ministry also said in a Tuesday statement that autopsy has proved that the death had not been caused by torture.
