UK police release 'Syria-bound' teens caught in Turkey
London police released Monday three British teenagers recently deported from Turkey after allegedly trying to cross into Syria to join the Daesh extremist group.

"Three males arrested on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts by officers from the Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command have now been bailed," Scotland Yard said in a statement.

Turkish police detained the three teens -- two 17-year-old boys and one 19-year-old man from north-west London -- at Istanbul's Sabiha Gokcen airport Saturday.

The trio was then sent back to the U.K.

They have been bailed to return to a central London police station on a date in early May "pending further enquiries."

The teens are believed to have initially arrived in Istanbul from Spain.

British officers alerted the Turkish authorities who were able to intercept all three males, preventing their onward travel to Syria.

Turkish intelligence officers spotted the trio, identified as Gafur H., Muhammed N. and Muhammad Abdullah .

Cooperation between Turkish and U.K. police has intensified after three British girls Shamima Begum, 15, Amira Abase, 15, and Kadiza Sultana, 16, went missing from East London in early February and reportedly arrived in Turkey to cross into Syria.

According to Turkish officials, since January, Turkey has deported more than 1,100 Syria-bound foreigners back to their countries.
