Daesh surrounds 5,000 families in Fallujah

Up to 5,000 families have been encircled by Daesh terrorists in Fallujah town of al-Anbar province of Iraq, said Fallujah Governor Saadoun al-Shaalan.

"Three thousand to 5,000 families in the district are at risk of death due to the Daesh siege," said Shaalan in his statement to Turkey's Anadolu Agency.

The governor also stated that the terrorists hadn't been allowing any food or medication aid to reach the residents and called for the formation of a corridor to enable civilians to get out of the town immediately.

No exit, no return

Daesh tightened its grip on Fallujah along with Mosul and prohibited anyone from leaving the towns.

Some managed to leave, citing medical reasons and paying bribes of up to tens of thousands of US dollars, or leaving family behind who faced execution if the person failed to return.

Also, report indicated that Peshmerga and Asayish forces barred some Arab residents from returning to their villages and towns after they had cleared the area of Daesh.

Residents 'eating grass'

Meanwhile, the report of the Iraqi Observatory for Human Rights revealed that around 100,000 civilians had been waiting for aid amid Daesh threats in Fallujah alone.

The report also said that some of the residents had been eating grass to survive.
