Turkish Airlines (THY) has announced that it would buy 240 new Boeing aircraft, and had taken options on 115 more, inking the largest order ever placed by a Turkish company for U.S. manufactured goods.
"In line with the growth targets set out within the framework of the strategic plan covering the years 2023-2033, our company has been negotiating with aircraft and engine manufacturers for some time," THY stated to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).
However, THY emphasized that the details regarding this prospective purchase would be shared with the public only after the board of directors grants their approval.
In May, Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of THY, announced that they would order 600 aircraft. However, Airbus claimed that it was difficult to plan this order in the short term.
