'2023 Turkic World Capital of Culture' celebrated in Shusha

Many guests attended the programs held in Shusha, Azerbaijan, which was chosen as the 'Cultural Capital of the Turkic World' in 2023. In addition to local delicacies, folk dances and shows also attracted attention.

Activities took place within the scope of the program in the city of Shusha, Azerbaijan, which was selected as the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World" in 2023 by the unanimous vote of the Ministers of Culture of the Turkic World. Many guests attended the opening event.

The guests, who tasted local delicacies such as Uzbek pilaf, Samarkand bread, and Bursa milk halva, went to the city square and watched the shows and dances performed by groups from the Turkish states.

Reminding that Shusha was chosen as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World in his speech at the ceremony, Azerbaijani Minister of Culture Adil Kerimli said, “The 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye and the 30th anniversary of TURKSOY are being celebrated with pride in the Turkic world.”

'OUR LANDS WERE PLUNDERED DURING THE 30-YEAR ARMENIAN OCCUPATION'

He said that during the 30 years of Armenian occupation, the lands of Shusha and Azerbaijan were plundered and destroyed.

"The mosques, madrasas, houses of important personalities, graves and other cultural treasures, which had an important place in the civilization of the whole Turkish world during the occupation period, were the victims of Armenian savagery," he said.

At the end of the program, samples of folk music of Turkish states were exhibited.
