There was a moment that made Turkish cinema proud at the festival where various films from all over the world compete every year in Cannes, France. World-famous actors gave Ceylan a standing ovation for minutes after the screening of Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan's "Kuru Otlar Ustune" (On Dry Herbs) at the 76th Cannes Film Festival.
Ceylan thanked the film crew and the actors one by one and shared his happiness, Ihlas News Agency reported.
The film, which tells the story of Samet, an art teacher doing his compulsory service in a remote town in Eastern Anatolia, and the events that happen to him, which he finds difficult to make sense of, took nearly two years to shoot.
The film, which is yet to be released in Türkiye, will compete in the main competition category at the Cannes Film Festival.
