A giant coin was designed in honor of Queen Elizabeth II, who died last year at the age of 96.

The coin unveiled ahead of the anniversary of the Queen's death, is made of 3.6 kilograms of 24-carat gold and 6,426 pieces of diamonds.

For the basketball-wide piece called the "crown", 3.6 kilograms of gold and more than 6 thousand diamonds were used.

It is stated that the relevant institutions of the Royal family were also involved in the production of the coin, the design of which began before the Queen's death.

According to Euronews, the designer company valued the coin, which they called a “work of art”, which is not legally considered money, at 23 million dollars.

The world's most expensive coin, the "Double Eagle" dated 1933, which was inscribed in the Guinness Book of World Records, was sold for 18.9 million dollars at an auction held in June 2021.

Queen Elizabeth II, one of the world's longest-reigning monarchs, died at the age of 96 on September 8, 2022 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
