Shusha elected as '2024 Capital of Culture of Islamic World'

12th Conference of Ministers of Culture of the Islamic World held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, Shusha became a candidate for the title of the Capital of Culture of the Islamic World 2024, and Shusha was unanimously declared the "Capital of Culture of the Islamic World 2024".

Shusha elected as '2024 Capital of Culture of Islamic World'

Azerbaijan's Ministry of Culture announced that Shusha, the symbolic city of Karabakh, has been selected as the "2024 Capital of Culture of the Islamic World".

In a written statement issued by the ministry, it was reported that AzerbaijanMinister of Culture Adil Karimli attended the 12th Conference of Ministers of Culture of the Islamic World held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, and proposed Shusha's candidacy for the Islamic World Capital of Culture Programme of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO) for 2024.

The statement said that Karimli's proposal was welcomed positively and Shusha was unanimously declared the "2024 Cultural Capital of the Islamic World".

Shusha was also declared the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World" in 2023.
