The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) provided support for the capacity increase of the historical Qasr al-Basha also known as Pasha's Palace Museum in the Gaza Stripunder the Israeli blockade.According to the written statement made by the Palestine Coordination Office of TIKA, display cabinets of various sizes and features were provided to the historical Pasha's Palace Museum, which serves as a museum in the Gaza Strip today and hosts more than 35 thousand local tourists every year. Thanks to the project supported by TIKA, more historical and archaeological artefacts were exhibited and the common historical cultural heritage was preserved.
Quasr Al-Basha is the only remaining model of the palaces in Gaza. It is located in Al-Daraj district in the eastern part of the old town. Its design and architectural structure represent the philosophy and character of Islamic architecture.
This building is one in of the richest neighborhoods in the historical buildings that highlight the history of Gaza throughout the ages. There is no founding plaque that chronicles the construction of this building. It is said that it is built to indicate the victory of Muslims to the dangers of the Mongols and Crusades.
