The 36th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF-JP) started in the Midtown Hibiya district of Tokyo, the capital of Japan. At the red carpet event of TIFF-JP, local and foreign film directors and actors took photos.
Japanese actress Ando Momoko, who is the festival ambassador, stated that films representing current times will be shown at the event and participants will experience Tokyo.
15 films selected from more than 1900 submissions from 114 countries and regions will compete for the grand prize at TIFF-JP.
Among the Japanese films, "(Ab)normal Desire" (Sei Yoku), "A Foggy Paradise" (Aimai na Rakuen) and "Who Were We?" (Watakushi Domo Wa) stand out.
More than 200 films will be presented to cinema lovers at various events during the festival.
TIFF-JP will end on November 1.
