IRAN SUPPORTED GROUPS IN DEYR EZ-ZOR

Deir ez-Zor province is the city that provides the land connection from Iran to Lebanon. Pipelines and trade routes from Iraq and Jordan also pass through this city. Deir ez-Zor city center and its west fell into the hands of the Assad regime after the withdrawal of Daesh in November 2017 with the help of Iran-backed groups and Russia.

Iran-backed foreign terrorist groups, which have become the ground power of the regime, are heavily present in Deir ez-Zor.

The Iranian, Iraqi, Lebanese, Afghan and Pakistani groups stationed in Deir ez-Zor, where Sunni Arabs live, are commanded by members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Army.
