In a statement made by the Russian Ministry of Defense, "A MiG-31 fighter plane crashed during a planned training flight in the Murmansk region. The plane crashed into a place where there was no people. 2 pilots escaped by parachute using the ejection seat during the accident. Search and rescue helicopters took the pilots from their location and evacuated them," it was said.

While it is not yet known why the plane crashed, an investigation was launched into the accident. In the footage recorded by the bystanders, it was seen that the fighter plane caught fire before it crashed.
