As the Russian-Ukrainian war continues with heavy losses on both sides, the US and its Western allies continue to support the Kyiv regime.
According to Anadolu, the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) reported that Denmark has requested assistance in training Ukrainian pilots in F-16s.
Pentagon spokesperson Brigadier General Pat Ryder told reporters that the request for support from Denmark was being reviewed and emphasized that Denmark and the Netherlands have taken the lead in developing training for Ukrainian pilots.
Ryder stated that the issue was discussed at the Ukraine Contact Group Meeting held last week.
"The United States will work closely with our allies to make this training happen," Ryder said, adding that the training is expected to take place "somewhere in Europe" before the end of this year.
It was announced by US officials that Denmark and the Netherlands would lead a European coalition to provide F-16 training to the Ukrainian military.
Some countries, such as Poland, Norway, Belgium and Portugal, have expressed interest in training Ukrainian pilots to operate F-16 fighter jets, which Ukraine has been demanding for some time.
